No, but they asked us for soil contaminants, and many metals are harmful to soil.

Yes, know how to find metal concentration in soil using a spectrometer (or colorimetry plug-in for TI). There's a decent chance that you'll see that lab at a higher competition.

OOOH!We had to find the concentration of a sample using a spectrometer. YOu had to calculate the units concentration would be measured in, too.

our test at regional was so easy, we got third place, losing a tiebreaker, the score was 98/100

So, I get to do this event at Nationals with no experience because my state doesn't have it as an event. I was wondering if we have to know about alfisols and ultisols and other types of soil. I hope not, because they are confusing.

I don't think you do... it's mainly Ph, concentration, and contaminants, as well as processing of soil for testing.
