Re: Environmental Chem
Has anyone had to test for metal content on a test yet?

Re: Environmental Chem
No, but they asked us for soil contaminants, and many metals are harmful to soil.

Re: Environmental Chem
Same here, it was in the rules and I was surprised not to see it on any tests.

Re: Environmental Chem
Yes, know how to find metal concentration in soil using a spectrometer (or colorimetry plug-in for TI). There's a decent chance that you'll see that lab at a higher competition.

Re: Environmental Chem
OOOH!We had to find the concentration of a sample using a spectrometer. YOu had to calculate the units concentration would be measured in, too.

I guess I just had 2 really easy tests at regionals and states.

Re: Environmental Chem
So, I get to do this event at Nationals with no experience because my state doesn't have it as an event. I was wondering if we have to know about alfisols and ultisols and other types of soil. I hope not, because they are confusing.

Re: Environmental Chem
I don't think you do... it's mainly Ph, concentration, and contaminants, as well as processing of soil for testing.Cpeterson wrote:So, I get to do this event at Nationals with no experience because my state doesn't have it as an event.
