I'm wondering... I'm moving up to C Division next year and I wonder if I should leave my Fossils binder behind to the B Division people. I've done Fossils for the past two years and there will be no more "experienced" Fossils people in B after I go to C. I'm going to need it next year, but I can easily make a new one. I'm wondering should I a) leave my binder with the B division so they can study from it next year or b) take with me my binder (because I'm selfish like that) and let the new B Fossils people make their own binder like I did when I was new to the event. Suggestions?

Take it with you, but copy the binder and give them the copies?

This all depends on the quality of the binder. If the binder is top grade with full length pages on most taxon that are not just copy and pasted from wikipedia, take it with you. If not, then you can make a new one and leave it behind.

take it with you. No vet is going to take up that event so it doesn't matter, making a binder is one of the ways you learn how to do the event. I would've failed miserably at my events if I just used someone else's binder. Of course, my binders aren't as greatly organized as yours are but they suffice.
I mean, you can help the kids doing the event next year, but not allowing the kids to make their own binders and learn is depriving them. A lot. Honestly, I'll help with buggy but giving them your binder is pretty much me building their buggy for them. They have to learn how to do it by themselves.

By making a binder, i hardly needed my binder, even at state...i only needed it for specific data questions.

So take ur binder with u for sure, tell them making their own binder is by far a better method if they wish to do well.

Yes, that's what I was thinking as well. I learned the event by making my binder and I guess they should try that as well. I'm probably going to remodel my binder anyway... it's a bit more on the bulky side even though it is extremely organized. :? Thanks, guys.

My binder was gigantic. If you think it needs to be reorganized then do so, by all means, but it can be okay.

what's the chances of seeing Cirripedia on a test? We had to solely ID one at states, but has anyone else had actual questions them, or was it just ID...

I've never had to ID anything off the list...of course this was my first year.

But if your state has a different list, i suggest u follow it, if it was just on a test with no warning, i think you can file a complaint.

Edit: Wow i feel like an idiot...i just realized u were saying barnacle. Forgetting all my fossils stuff :(. Sorry, i've never seen barnacles on a test, but they shouldnt be too hard to ID...
