Let's see... In no particular order:
The Bartimaeus Trilogy [very little-known but could be considered better than Harry Potter] (Jonathan Stroud)
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (Douglas Adams)
Harry Potter (J.K. Rowling)
Airman (Eoin Colfer)
The first three books of the Artemis Fowl series (Eoin Colfer)
Cartoon History of the Universe (Larry Gonick)
Tiffany Aching (Terry Pratchett)
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Stiegg Larsson)
Fahrenheit 451 (Ray Bradbury)
Freakonomics (Stephen Dubner and Steven Levitt)
The Great Gatsby (F. Scott Fitzgerald)
The Golden Compass (Philip Pullman)
Life of Pi (Yann Martel)
To Kill a Mockingbird (Harper Lee)
And SO MANY MORE.

I've never read the Hunger Games and I really despise the Inheritance Trilogy and Twilight. Sorry.

Anyone ever read the Pendragon series? It's one of my favorites.

I just recently got into reading Terry Pratchett's Discworld series, and it's one of the best series I've ever read.

Reaper Man and Night Watch were particularly good. Hilarious, yet they really had great plots with excellent writing.

No particular order, some are in general or authors
The Bartimaeus Trilogy
Inheritance cycle (probably my favourite, but the genres are all so different)
All of Cassandra Clare's books (the mortal instruments, the infernal devices)
Maximum ride (only the first three)
All of Cinda Williams Chima's books (the Heir series, the Seven realms series) - She is not well known, but possibly my favorite author
All of Suzanne Collins's books (Gregor the overlander, the hunger games...)
Artemis Fowl series
and... the Percy Jackson series + the lost hero

there are probably more...

I actually didn't like the HP series, I agree that the Bartimaeus trilogy is better... much better depth of character, not so frivolous, and the main characters have more than two brain cells...

I for one have just finished the 6th time of reading the Inheritance series, by Cristopher Paloni.

Maximum Ride was a good series by James Patterson
But his better series in the Daniel X, Alien hunter series

I belive that the Artemis series tanked after the 5th book.
Eion Colifer did write a good book, The Supernaturalists though.

I thought the 4th and 5th books in the Artemis Fowl series were pretty good, but the 6th book was just awful. I haven't yet read the latest one, but I'll probably grab it from the library next time it's there.

The Supernaturalist was an excellent book, though.
