It did- I don't mind it anymore, but now I don't practice it because I'm so far behind some of the others in my band, and I'd much rather play the mallets anyway.

Well, you can't exactly turn the snares off in the middle of a band rehearsal. The conductor's gonna notice and ask why his snare drum has no snare.

Well, you can't exactly turn the snares off in the middle of a band rehearsal. The conductor's gonna notice and ask why his snare drum has no snare.
That too, but that's not to say there aren't fun things to do on a drum with the snares off. I can play Mary had a little lamb and Ode to Joy, personally.

I have no knowledge on wind instruments. I used to play the cello before I played the drums.
I actually find it easier to play a drumroll on a hard wooden surface or a wall than doing it on a snare drum.

and yes- that is the only reason I learned the ocarina!
-this one time I played the song of storms, and it actually started raining. It was so cool. (nerd moment :) )

I've heard tales about OoT and the Song of Storms resulting in rain...I have to try that someday :lol: (nerd moment: :ugeek: )

I play viola, and that is it. Is it just me, or are the only places I meet other viola players at places like Scioly and leadership conferences? It seems to be a very nerdy instrument.
