Re: Keep the Heat B/Thermodynamics C
Is a heat loss of 24 degrees at 90 degrees Celsius, and 150 ml a decent trial?

It depends on your cooling time and also your control (external) beaker

Re: Keep the Heat B/Thermodynamics C
Well I haven't actually done that combination but according to my charts and predicting algorithms(which have actually proved to be very accurate) I would predict 75.3° as my final tempquestionguy wrote:Is a heat loss of 24 degrees at 90 degrees Celsius, and 150 ml a decent trial?
And this is all with approximately 22° as room temp

Which appears to be nearing the "limit" for heat retention. I don't think you'll find a device capable of retaining much more heat.harryk wrote:Well I haven't actually done that combination but according to my charts and predicting algorithms(which have actually proved to be very accurate) I would predict 75.3° as my final tempquestionguy wrote:Is a heat loss of 24 degrees at 90 degrees Celsius, and 150 ml a decent trial?

Re: Keep the Heat B/Thermodynamics C
So are you guys saying, there's a large room for improvement from 64 to 75 degrees or is it too much the effort to raise it that much. My regionals are in one week, so I would prob not be able to build another device. and there's not much room for stuff to be added in my current one.Primate wrote:Which appears to be nearing the "limit" for heat retention. Re: Keep the Heat B/Thermodynamics C
I am trying to help my daughter with her events. The competition is in a couple of weeks and she actually has no idea what is involved in Keep The Heat, and until tonight, I didn't even know she was in this event. There is no advisor or teacher helping with preparing for this event and to tell the truth, I'm a bit frustrated. We are trying to figure out where we can find the allowed materials list. Any help??
