Re: Mission Possible C
This depends on how your state operates. You should contact someone involved in your state organization (assuming you mean regionals rather than states, although this is still an uncommon practice which leads me to believe that it might just be a rumor or misinterpretation).saathvik02 wrote:I was told at my regional competition that the highest scores from each State would be released and wanted to know where to get that info.
If you're talking about each state and not each regional, no such thing occurs since state organizations operate independently in almost all aspects of SO.

Would we be allowed to use an adjustable power supply like this to power multiple tasks? The rules say that "adjustable and movable devices can only be used for one task," but if i set a power supply before the run starts and don't adjust it, is it considered "adjustable?"
Just trying my best...

Pretty sure it is OK. This is the way to use one battery.Ten086 wrote:Would we be allowed to use an adjustable power supply like this to power multiple tasks? Re: Mission Possible C
When 3.d. says the top and at least one vertical wall must be open or transparent for viewing all actions, I am confused whether the "top" is referring to the top of the action or the top of the device For example, let's say the top of the actions on the lower floor was clearly visible, or even if I put a clear enclosure or box around an action on the lower floor, would that violate this rule? What is the "top" in relation to?nicholasmaurer wrote:I would say this does violate 3.d.wpeng730 wrote:Apologies if someone's asked this question already, but I was wondering if having two "stories" in our device would violate rule 3d. I have two layers of pegboard separated by about 15cm of space, like a two-story house, with the top layer being about half the size of the bottom layer. Does anyone think that violates the "top" part of the rule? Thanks.

I read it as being the top of the device, not the top of each action.marvinl718 wrote:When 3.d. says the top and at least one vertical wall must be open or transparent for viewing all actions, I am confused whether the "top" is referring to the top of the action or the top of the device For example, let's say the top of the actions on the lower floor was clearly visible, or even if I put a clear enclosure or box around an action on the lower floor, would that violate this rule? Re: Mission Possible C
What would be considered a combustible fuse? Is it just specifically that or applies to everything that burns continuously to a point. I'm planning to use a burning candle wick, where the flame moves from one end to another and burns a string as a timer. Would this be considered a fuse?My concern is that it will be not allowed under rule 2d.

Re: Mission Possible C
The 11/2/17 FAQ on flames requires that they "burn out quickly" to be considered controlled. In my opinion, using a flame as a timer by definition violates this requirement.absolutezerok3 wrote:What would be considered a combustible fuse? Re: Mission Possible C
Based on my reading of the rules anything that burns and is used as a timer would not be allowed. If I remember correctly this was also stated at a Southern California regional but I am not sure on that. If I were you I would stay away from anything that has even the slightest chance of getting you tiered.absolutezerok3 wrote:What would be considered a combustible fuse? Re: Mission Possible C
Is anyone using ATTiny 85s here and could you help us? We're using code where our IR LED is supposed to turn on when the ATTiny senses a limit switch being pressed. For some reason, even though there's nothing connected to our input pin, the IR LED is still turning on. We have no idea why... We also noticed that the 5v pins and the io pins are connected for some reason? We used a multimeter to check the continuity between the 2 ports, and we found that they were connected. We're very confused now and have no idea how our build has been working. Any help would be greatly appreciated :')
Code: Select all
void setup() {
pinMode(0, OUTPUT);
digitalWrite(0, LOW);
pinMode(1, INPUT);
}
void loop() {
if (digitalRead(1)) {
digitalWrite(0, HIGH);
delayMicroseconds(10);
digitalWrite(0, LOW);
delayMicroseconds(10);
}
}
Just trying my best...
