Am I the only one looking at transferring from community college? Private schools are expensive!

Thing is, there are plenty of private schools with steep price tags that offer generous financial aid. Academic or athletic scholarships help. In the end, sometimes they can even be cheaper, but that all depends on your own situation: what your grades look like, what extracurriculars/athletics/service work you did, class rank, ACT, so on and so forth. Those factors differ for everyone, so, I suppose, neither of us can make blanket statements. :?

Private schools are indeed expensive, so if you want to save money by transferring from a community college, go for it! While it's very hard to transfer into Ivies I hear, there are plenty of other institutions who'd probably accept you. Like Skink said, it also depends on what sorts of scholarships you may get from certain colleges and what your FAFSA looks like, because while some colleges say they cover all of your demonstrated need, sometimes that need is not as high as you'd like it to be.

In the end, it's what you're most comfortable with. I was lucky enough to get a generous scholarship from Drexel, so I'm here, but every situation is different, and as long as you have a plan, you'll end up being successful anyway as long as you put the work in. :)

Well, keep in mind, I'm still a highschool freshman. I just prefer private schools, and will definitely apply to Harvard when the time comes.

You're a bit young to be using words like "definitely" with regards to college applications, aren't you? ;)
