- A&P returns to whatever systems it had in 2016
- Herpetology -> Ornithology
- Water Quality focus changes to saltwater or estuaries, something like that
- Dynamic Planet topic probably changes to Freshwater
- Astronomy topic will change, details unknown but I expect star and planet formation may return
- Meteorology topic changes to Severe Storms
- Solar System -> Reach for the Stars
- Thermodynamics -> Simple Machines (B)/Compound Machines (C)
- Potions and Poisons -> Can't Judge A Powder
- Chemistry Lab topic probably becomes Acids and Bases, & Aqueous Solutions
- Battery Buggy -> Mousetrap Vehicle
- Mousetrap Vehicle -> Gravity Vehicle
- Mission Possible -> probably Robot Arm
- Mystery Architecture and Fermi Questions will almost certainly rotate out, but I have no idea what will replace them
We had an informational meeting in the library today. They gave us what every event would be, if anyone would like the events feel free to ask.
Unome is 100% right on his/her predictions actually. They were released a few months ago too.
Also, I happened to see part of the informational meeting you're talking about lmao. Some of the events were kinda wrong, by the way. Don't trust all your sources, and double check them as well.
Here's some clarifications (just from what I heard lol)
1) No "Indoor Bottle Rocket" - not sure where they got this. It's supposedly called Ping Pong Parachute (PPP) and its an inquiry, not a build event.
2) No "Simple Machines" - it's (rumored) to be just "Machines" now.
3) Road is not an inquiry event >:(
A lot of the things that the speakers mentioned were wrong actually. I think they used outdated information lol. Assuming you were at the same meeting as me (WWP gang heh) then you should probably double check your sources on the scioly.org wiki or event archives over at soinc.org, which are unlikely to be wrong or outdated.
well we don't know if they're gonna change to 1 year rotations for dynamic, so for now its still glaciers next year, not freshwater

Conflicts are always based on the second letter of every event supervisor's great aunt's middle name and that is a FACT. (jk there's no way to predict tournament schedules... actually you could potentially go look at every past nats schedule and see the most common conflicts? but otherwise no.)

A couple of Nationals have been alphabetical, but that is uncommon.
