That really upsets me because I am from NY and I studied the national list just for Invitationals. When/How was it announced that the new york list would be used? I assumed the national list was going to be used since a)I couldn't find a pennsylvania state list and b)i knew there were teams from both pennsylvania and new york coming nd using the national list seemed to be the most fair thing to do. Additionally, there were birds on the test that even if going by the modified list for ny, were not supposed to be used until the state level. I just don't like the whole situation, but thank you for answering my previous question.

soobsession wrote:it would be extremely helpful to have a binder...the list seems to be really long (longer than my fossils list at least)...the list for feathered frenzy from a while ago anyways

my binder didnt really help for fossils...maybe thats just because the questions were so easy it was really not needed...

Pennsylvania has no state list (thank god) but it was not announced that the New York state list would be used.

To anyone who was at the Athens Invitational and competed in birds... Did they include the test/answer key in your binder that you took home? For some reason we don't have it and I want to know if that was intentional or a mistake.

I'm looking for some help, does anyone have a respectable site for bird calls? That is the toughest part of this for my team for some reason.

More specifically, use Cornell's Macaulay Library. It has tons of recordings and videos of birds. All the clips from allaboutbirds.org are from there.

for downloadable calls, try Junglewalk.com. It is an indexing site that allows you to search for a type of bird i.e. Owl, and it will point you to all the sites that have a call for a particular species of owl on them, and tell you what format the file is in. However, if you use this, you have to be general with your search terms, and i twill show you individual species from there. I found calls for almost every bird i was doing and put them all on my Ipod. Usually, WAV and MP3 work best. The shuffle function really helps with learning the calls.

If you would like to listen to the calls, http://www.uwgb.edu/birds/wbba/speciesaudios.htm has many of the songbirds in high quality
