Chalker7, do you think would it be possible to organize FAQ's by the date they were posted rather than by the order they appear in the rules? It would be a lot easier to check if a new one was posted without having to scroll through. Just a suggestion for future years.

I believe the reason they do that is for convenience on tournament day, where the FAQ's are probably the most critical. It is easier to read them if you print them out in that order and have a rules manual next to you.

I wish that was posted a few days prior, but oh well. The questions asks if it can be used to pick up pieces. Does this mean that the tool is dropped AFTER picking up and scoring pieces (just asking for a little clarification, unofficially of course)?

I'm not sure I understand the distinction between what you describe and what the clarification describes.

I'm not sure I understand the distinction between what you describe and what the clarification describes.

Sorry, I first understood the clarification as saying that a tool may fall of the base, so long as it is tethered, and other objects may be scored by the arm after it has dropped. Now I see that it could mean that that tool was used to score items.

Anyone know where I can find the 9.5-10.5 cm nails without having to be an enormous box of them? I went to home depot, but they sold them in boxes of 50 for about 11 bucks

Well unless you have some lying around or know someone who does, then I think you'll just have to buy a box of them, also double check homedepot/lowes/hardware stores they might have them available in bins, or you could use bolts of the same size as substitutes

Well, here's the answer I gave the national organization when I was challenged on the choice we had in the rules.

I would have no problem finding a variety of nails that fit the requirement at my local Home Depot, Lowes or hardware store.
Checking Home Depot's website I find available a #6 by 4 inch common-bright nail $2.98 per 1 lb package, #7 by 4 in galvanized Steel pole barn nails $13.98 per 5 lb package. None special order.
Checking Lowe's website I find available #9 by 4 inch galvanized common $4.47/lb, #6 by 4 inch common $3.47/lb, #7 by 3 3/4 inch Cement coated common $2.74/lb. Again, none special order.

While some are coated, all are magnetic. The nails I used at the national trial last year were bought after looking for a few minutes at Canadian Tire (I was on business in Canada when I had time to look). They are spiral shank bright nails, don't remember the penney size, but they are 4 inches long. One lb for a few dollars was enough to run several playing fields at the national tournament.

So $3 to $4 should get you a lb of appropriate nails.

You might have to do some shopping, though - the first several places I went either didn't have any or only had 5 lb. boxes, which cost significantly more. I finally found a box of 20d. 4" framing nails for a very reasonable price in my local hardware store.
