The people who write the rules typically meet the day after nats and discuss problems with events, and since they lurk around these forms, and it's been a recurring problem, it's honestly probably already been taken care of. If it hasn't it's not too hard next season to submit a question on soinc at the start of the season.

We'll do our best to address that in the rules for 2015.

what do you think will change in the rules?

Having us travel a curved path with a given radius of arc would be quite interesting.
Hmmm, but realistically speaking, dimension requirements can always change. That's what happened with boomilever this year in addition to a base change. I also think they'll change that rule about allowing the egg to touch the wall.

The curve has been used in the past, but some of the venues I've seen wouldn't be able to handle it if there was a curve...

there was a point in time that they added a bump at a certain point in the track. Also they could do the "go around a bucket" version like they did with battery buggy years ago

judging by past changes, they will probably make the vehicle have different dimensions as well as maybe stopping as close as possible to the target LINE. they migh add in a center line bonus too. I think the biggest change they could make is make the vehicle have to go to the target, leave the egg there, and then go back to the starting line.

I'm not sure about the target line, that would make the event easier than it is now, at least for me. However, leaving the egg at the line then going back to the start seems amazingly hard. There was that video of a curved scrambler track in the video at Nationals this year.

That was the second year for mousetrap, pushing the egg to the line (cup, not egg, but same idea) and backing away to a certain point. It was... Interesting.
Also they've used curves in the past, but I think they're just too difficult to make room for, especially at some of the sites I've competed at.

I concur. That to me seems too big of a change to implement. Many people already couldn't even create a decent scrambler just on the current rules. To take it to the next step like that....
I think we can all expect dimensions (of the scrambler, falling mass, the track, etc.) to change somewhat. That would encourage - if not force - people who have experience this year to rebuild or change their scramblers.
Now that I think about, rather than getting rid of the rule allowing the egg to touch the end barrier, I think it'd be interesting if they made it mandatory to actually make contact with it. That would leave open many new considerations like how fast can a scrambler travel, the overall design, etc. In my mind, it'd actually encourage and reward those who tested to make sure the egg would survive impact.
