Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C
I'm still wondering about how rule 3i, "all parts of the vehicle must move as a whole," affects this. In my unofficial opinion that could be interpreted as prohibiting this type of maneuver. But it is a very ambiguous rule.

The cup is not considered part of the vehicle.Alex-RCHS wrote:I'm still wondering about how rule 3i, "all parts of the vehicle must move as a whole," affects this. In my unofficial opinion that could be interpreted as prohibiting this type of maneuver. But it is a very ambiguous rule.

I thought that maybe having one part of your vehicle moving forward to push the cup while the rest of the vehicle is still or moving backward might be in violation of this. It’s not very clear though.

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C
I'm pretty sure the rule is just to make sure people aren't dropping anything during the run, which could be seen as splitting the vehicle into multiple piecesAlex-RCHS wrote:I know...?4Head wrote:The cup is not considered part of the vehicle.Alex-RCHS wrote:I'm still wondering about how rule 3i, "all parts of the vehicle must move as a whole," affects this. Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C
A few questions:
How can I get my car to go faster? It takes ~15 seconds to go the 4m back (i dont have a wingnut system yet so it takes another second or two bc it winds back)
Currently my car details:
2 7/8" banebots
50cm lever arm
47cm between two wheels
1/4" axles, one wooden dowel, the other a steel-threaded rod
3d printed + carbon fiber chassis
Also, I want to add a wingnut system, but how would i measure how much i need to wind it? This part confuses me a bit.

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C
I think the lever arm may be a bit long. Also check how many rotations it actually needs to go 4m back. IF there is extra string and some rod up then it’s too long. Also the steel may be playing a role of the weight.

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C
Does it matter if the winding or braking axle is the front axle? I've been using the winding axle as the front axle, but it seems like everyone else is using that as the back axle....

It doesn’t really matter. I just used back because it “felt” better.rafaelnadal wrote:Does it matter if the winding or braking axle is the front axle? I've been using the winding axle as the front axle, but it seems like everyone else is using that as the back axle....

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C
If your lever arm extends beyond the body of the car it may hit/interfere with the cup. To prevent this many teams have the winding axle in the back so by the time the lever arm reaches the front of the car the cup has already been dropped off.PM2017 wrote:I was about to say the same thing.4Head wrote:It doesn’t really matter.
