That's an (in my opinion) humorous sketch from one of the textbooks of how folks believed like organisms lived on opposite sides of the ocean. Obviously, they just walked across!

Seriously, though, I'm not clear what they mean there, either. They're seemingly not referring to ocean basins because that's covered elsewhere, but...that's the only thing that makes sense to me right now because land bridges weren't actually a thing. Were they?

I think what they're trying to get at is like how the creation and separation of supercontinents/oceans affected evolution of organisms (divergent vs. convergent evolution?) and events like the opening of the Drake Passage and how that impacted global climate.

3, basically just divide in half the amount of material eroded (specifically the height), and that will be the amount of subsidence. Sometimes you may have to recalculate overall crustal density if the area contains rocks of multiple densities.

What are some suggestions or resources to look into for the mathematical portion of this event? I've been having a lot of trouble with identifying the most salient equations and consistently miss the most points in those sections.
