Our region in NY runs all events plus usually both trial events. Depending on the event judge, some events are run extremely well, and others not so much.

Our region in NY runs 20 events, i believe, and as of last year, for the high school, we pick 2 events not to do (rumor has it that thats because our team dominates so much that they want to give the other teams a chance to get medals, but you cant believe every rumor you hear) :D
2009 events:
Fossils: 1st @ reg. 3rd @ states (stupid dinosaurs...) 5th @ nats.
Dynamic: 1st @ reg. 19thish @ states, 18th @ nats
Herpetology (NOT the study of herpes): NA
Enviro Chem: 39th @ states =(
Cell Bio: 9th @ reg. 18th @ nats
Remote: 6th @ states 3rd @ Nats
Ecology: 5th @ Nats

Our regionals has all the events, but we were REQUIRED to select seven (I think) events that won't get counted. For those events, you can either enter them and be ranked (though your rank won't count, and everybody below you get shifted up), or just omit them. It would be wise to still enter the events, since we have states in March, and you'd better be ready by the time regionals are around. I wonder if they'll have Junkyard in C this year.

Anyways, I figure the really good teams would probably enter the trial events at regionals, since those teams have good members, and fewer other teams compete in trials. I don't make those decisions for my team, so I wouldn't know.

Ah, I forgot that the trial events counted toward the 25. That's sumo bots and solar power, which apparently is similar to physics lab, because the topic for that is alternative energy, right? Too bad we didn't get geologic. That would have made me a happy camper.
