In The Competition line J, it says Emergency Preparedness. What do you think this means exactly? Emergency Procedures or prediction of volcanoes?

i think it means emergency preparedness, most likely for an earthquake because there is not much you can do to prepare for a volcano, but it could include the prediction of both

Yeah, I think it's the procedures that you're supposed to follow to stay safe during an earthquake. That's the only thing that makes any sense to me.

probably some wavelength stuff for the earthquakes and tsunamis, but i don't know what other calculations will be necessary

Calculating where the epicenter of an earthquake is probally a big part of the event. If you meant mathematical calculations, I don't know of any specific ones.

I meant like the examples they gave. Calculating sea-floor spreading, velocity of waves, finding the source of the waves etc.
