Re: Pennsylvania 2015
I don't know much about most div C regions but I do have some predictions for SE.
1.Rustin
2.Stoga
3.Harriton
4.Penncrest
5.Strath
These may seem a bit odd considering I put Harriton in 3rd but they didn't have that great of a showing at Cornell, and even though it was a month ago and I trust that they have grown from it, I can't discount Rustins excellent performance at Mentor.
Good luck everyone who's competing today!!

Re: Pennsylvania 2015
Huh. That was interesting. About C Division: EastStroudsburg was almost completely right! I'm not sure what Penncrest is up to, though. I mean, they won states last year. B Division: Devon Prep definitely on the rise.
I presume B Division rankings changes more and changes more quickly from year to year than C?

That sounds interesting; where did you reason that from?hipparcos wrote:...

Re: Pennsylvania 2015
Which is strange, that normally doesn't happen.hipparcos wrote:EastStroudsburg was almost completely right!

This is true to some extent. B is certainly harder to predict, partially due to the fact that younger participants probably will have a higher variance in how well they do at competitions. Also, for last year's state competition, when correlating each team's place in 2014 with their place in 2013 (if they did not qualify the previous year, a place of 37th is assumed), C gets a correlation coefficient of 0.804, while B gets a coefficient of 0.721.Unome wrote:That sounds interesting; where did you reason that from?hipparcos wrote:...

However, that's not to say that there are no drastic changes in C. For example, Northwestern Lehigh went from not making states in 2013 to placing 7th in 2014. However, in general, B seems to have slightly higher variations. Which does not necessarily always apply, considering how long Strath Haven, Bala Cynwyd, and Welsh Valley have dominated the region. But this sort of thing rarely applies in all possible cases!

Re: Pennsylvania 2015
That's a nice point spread in B, haha. Will be interesting to see who makes a move for states.
Also interesting that SE PA C is back down to 7 teams moving on. There's a very clear gap between the top 9 and the rest of the region, which is unfortunate for places 8 and 9.
