Re: Ecology
I am doing ecology this year for the first time and was wondering if any one had some good links or resources to share? I'm kinda overwhelmed by the rules... I don't know where to start. Suggestions?
Kicking Butt in Camden, NY this year...

Re: Ecology
i def. recomend starting with say a middle school ecology book or even a biology for dummies and read the ecology section. you can prob find that at your local library. Learn and master the basics then read up on biomes and make sure you cover everything on the event description.
hope it helps

Re: Ecology
definitely start with a bio book, or another book that just covers basics, then move up to higher levels, but make sure you understand the basics

Re: Ecology
I'd start reading through links on soinc.org. Itll give a lot of info without a lot of searching.

Re: Ecology
in the rules, it says something about nutrient recycling. is that like how composting wastes work, or something else?

Re: Ecology
i would think it means decomposers and decomposition, and compost probably fits too, and probably how nutrients travel through the trophic levels and the different cycles that certain things follow, Carbon, nitrogen, phosphorous, water

Re: Ecology
Last year at an invitation, there were some multiple choice questions asking about a specific animal. Does anyone know how these types of questions work? Like which animals to study and stuff like that.

Re: Ecology
definitely keystone species, and anything that has specific adaptations to a desert or grassland, but specific animals, i have no clue, i wouldn't expect to see that at state or regionals unless it is a keystone species, or a species common to one of the focus biomes
