Re: Sounds of Music B
Does anyone know about oiling bamboo flutes? I was researching, and found that walnut and linseed oils seem good. Does anyone have an opinion based on experience?

Re: Sounds of Music B
I would think a kit would fall under "commercial instrument parts". That's my opinion, go to the national website for a true clarification.

Re: Sounds of Music B
Quick question: What kind of questions can you expect in the technical interview?

Re: Sounds of Music B
The basic physics of sound come up a lot (the bare essentials). More frequently, you'll see questions asking you about how you tune your instrument, how it makes the sounds that it does, and most of all, the exact process of building the instrument. Check some of the Sounds of Music Test Exchange 2012, since there is often overlap between the written and verbal exams.

Re: Sounds of Music B
What would be better and easier to make and play: A recorder or a flute as a treble instrument, also a Marimba or a Xylophone as a bass clef instrument?

Re: Sounds of Music B
For your intents and purposes, Marimbas and Xylophones are the same. That is, unless you are using "marimba" to refer to an instrument with resonator tubes beneath the keys, in which case I strongly encourage you to do that. Sounds a LOT better.dmaloney224 wrote:What would be better and easier to make and play: A recorder or a flute as a treble instrument, also a Marimba or a Xylophone as a bass clef instrument?
