Did anyone actually look at the link? It opens to page 23 in the magazine. The reason for page 23 is just because that's what google links to when you search "popular science october 1920". It's seems unlikely to me that the Assassinator is using page 23 of a magazine has his reference.

If you're that desperate go read some of the other games in the past... That is how I learned how to play this game (Though I'm not that good at it).

You really can't explain game, you just have to watch and learn (and eventually get used to it).
Basically, Assassinator is the assassin. He's out to kill people.
Before he kills someone, he gives a clue hinting to who it is he's about to kill.
If you can solve the clue (which will usually be very, very, vague and clueless) and figure out who the assassinator (sassy) is trying to kill, then you protect that person.
I don't really get it myself.
