This info is basicaly based on one invitational, so it may be wrong.

If anyone wants a good instructionals video on cell structure, go to khanacademy.com.
It's the best! :)

How do you guys study for microbe picture/microscope slide ID'ing?
It seems like the questions can range from really generic to really specific in the hierarchy of classification.

Yes, that is a very good site for basic intros to stuff.

Does anybody know of (a) good book(s) to study for this event (or microbiology in general) with? I really need one.

Well, there are a huge variety of Microbiology books available.

First of all, check this: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Microbiology+Textbooks

That brings up quite a few results.

Next, check Amazon. Usually there are quite a few books on there.

But what I really recommend doing (as this is what I did) is to go to a used book store and peruse the Science section. Often there are quite a few textbooks on Microbiology over there. Also, this is generally much faster.

Personally though, I recommend the book Foundations in Microbiology by Talaro. Although there is a lot of extraneous information not needed for the event, it provides a pretty good overview (just by reading the first seven to eight chapters) on the information needed.

I hope this helps! :D
