Gender will not be added to profiles. It isn't needed, if you want to know just ask.

Re: Season 2012 - Site suggestions
...Really?
The general rule on the internet is "assume male, unless told otherwise". Personally, I've never had much trouble with people's genders, although there are several people (like myself) with rather ambiguous usernames and writing styles.
Back to the main topic of this thread, I really wish there was a way to prevent people from asking the same questions on the event threads over and over. I know there's not really a practical solution, but it really irks me when people repeatedly ask the same questions when the answer is just a couple pages or a click of the search button away.

Re: Season 2012 - Site suggestions
I would like if they set ornithology and fossils as unswitchable events, since they are much more better than forestry and rocks and minerals. Now I can't do fossils or ornithology until I'm in divison C, which stinks, and I don;t planon doing forestry and rocks and minerals, because they don't interest me. They might interest some people, though. I hope they'll fix it

I'm afraid we don't have the power to do that here. But you ought to try the new events anyway- you might enjoy them despite your original feeling towards them.

Been suggested already [by meharryk wrote:You know what I think would be rather useful? Put gender info over on the left side with location, and division and what not; so that when you're posting you will know whether to write him or her and so forth
Skystrider's a guy?paleonaps wrote:I thought Skystrider, amerikestrel, and zyzzyva were girls.
Unfortunately, SciOly doesn't have the power to pick events, or that would be pretty unfairly advantageous to us.geekychic13 wrote:I would like if they set ornithology and fossils as unswitchable events, since they are much more better than forestry and rocks and minerals. Re: Season 2012 - Site suggestions
I do highly commend whoever made the mobile version of the site (it's really nice) although I do wish there was a "mark topics/forums read" button or something of the sort. (Also, minor nitpick, but straight black on white is sort of boring...maybe a light blue background like the regular site?)
