This talk about the short story "The Lottery". While I was browsing the Wikipedia for The Hunger Games one of the related links was to the wiki on "The Lottery". Mabey someone that has mentioned The Hunger Games is the Assassin.

The premise for "The Reaping" in the Hunger Games is the same, actually. It's not a terribly rare idea, but perhaps something to consider.
