That's great- how well do think you would have done if you had your sheets?

So the test was basically an ecology test? Geez. I've got to go read up on some ecology.

probably much better; we had to guess blankly on the info about the satellites; our sheets had all of our info on them. i made the sheets, so i remembered a bit of it, but most of it we needed the sheets for. i bet we could have cracked the top 10.

trust me. this will help a lot. in fact, from doing some remote sensing stuff, i also learned about ecology, and im going to try that event this year. a good idea might be trying ecology yourself, it would help you with remote sensing, and vice versa.

It's easier than you would think. I barely studied for it- I think that the Ecology thread was mostly the extent of my studying, and I'm the National champion.
EDIT: Well, that sucks, quizbowl.

Well, it depends on how much you know before hand, too, as well as your partner. I think my potential partner does ecology too, so that may work out in our favor.

I knew quite a bit beforehand. You probably would have had some advantage last year though- you live in Kansas, so you're significantly closer to the grasslands than I am.

Just driving through the Flint Hills doesn't make you an expert. And I'm sure there's more than grassland... Kansas is just flat grassland. Contrary to popular belief, it's not very exciting.

Ugh. Please don't talk about the wizard of oz around me. I find it rather annoying.

Also, I don't think my odds are good for ecology when nearly half the team wants to do the event. But I may try my luck at an invitational.
