-Physicists = target does physics events? Either that or the assassinators are just calling us physicists now.

Physicists and central USA makes me think of gz and Fyren, who both have a big interest in physics and live in the midwest.

The signature quote "I am one of you, and you may be one of me" makes me think that the sassy could be posting on this thread. I have my suspicions, but I'll keep them under wraps until we have more information.

I think there's a case for Fyren.

One of the original X-men (noted from AstroClarinet) is known by the alias "Phoenix", and of course the Central US and Physics parts add up.

IOB might be a key for the "LWMXEAPKIPRAPDKTZ" encryption.

IOB also happens to be the reverse of "BOI", but that's probably just finding evidence where there isn't any.

I think Hugo's reasoning makes sense and someone should probably protect Fyren. I tried a few ciphers for the decryption of the letters and I'm still stuck. The only thing I could really come up with was a Vigenere key, but that didn't really work. And Affine/Hill solvers and quipqiup didn't turn up anything either.

and yeah I tried out the ciphers.. the keyed caeser and used any keywords I think could work. They didn't.
But I remember that there can be more than one target, and the code could be them
