Re: Extracurricular Thread
I do Science Olympiad, Robotics, You be the chemist, I am studying for a Ham radio license, head to head, math counts, I am a chief science officer for my school too. (Which means I organize the STEM events). I also play the violin. You'll find that if you do a lot of clubs, it's not too much, since math counts end when science Olympiad heats up. ( unless you make the math counts them, then you can't go to the science Olympiad competition since they are on the same days.) also, robotics can help you learn about your build event, like maybe how to use a wrench if you are in the battery buggy event. I was not the one who did circuit lab at the competition, but I was an alternate, and I still went to the meetings out of interest, so it helped me with Ham Radio.
you may only get 7-8 hours of sleep each night, but sleep in on the weekends!
Right now it's summer, so I would say practice so you are not rushing to learn everything when school starts.

Re: Extracurricular Thread
I have a couple new ones:
I'm in National Honor Society (not really a club, just looks cool), Varsity Band, Varsity Jazz Band, and National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB) (again.... LADUE).
Edit: Forgot my sport: Baseball.

I would, but I like scioly a lot more. And their competition days always are the same as scioly's.kaurs wrote:Do any of you do mathcounts?

Re: Extracurricular Thread
As far as science extra curricular....it is pretty easy to transfer scioly knowledge to other Olympiad’s and Science Bowl . Like you can use chem lab experience for Chem Olympiad, and BioOlympiad you can take from biology-themed events. I love the idea of Science Bowl - it’s legitimately a bunch of different scioly events mixed together. Also IESO, it’s pretty easy to get to the camp for USA(camp is harder if you don’t memorize rocks), I took the test solely from scioly knowledge and got in. As far as none Science extra curricular, literally just sign up for them and you’ll find the time, it just happens.
Don’t want to put the thread on too much of a tangent, but here it goes : How competitive is Science Bowl at Nats?
