How are the mousetraps moving going to be scored?
It says in the rules that there's a 2pt. penalty for every 1cm that the mousetrap is off....
Is that BEFORE the contraption starts, or after ie. if the mousetraps bounces when it's set off?

3a says the mousetrap locations will be marked before the device starts. That implies it is measured at the starting position.
Also 3c line 5 says the mousetraps cannot become unshielded projectiles. Based on the powerpoint on the SO website, they show examples of the traps being taped to cardboard or something (not the floor also prohibited by 3c line 5)

It says a penalty will be enforced if the mousetraps aren't lined up correctly. I think that they'll put them down where they want, but you have to keep it that way if you pick it up to hook it up to the device. Seems like any competent person can do that.

In the rules it says "no battery that exceeds 6 volts".
Is that combined, your batteries can't excede 6 volts or no single battery can exceed 6 volts?

Singular. You can't have one battery that exceeds 6 volts.

It also says that batteries in any one circuit cannot exceed 6 volts.

That's basically what I meant. (I was vague though)

I myself don't plan on using any batteries though. How would you incorporate them?

you could use batteries to build an electromagnet... holds something in the air until you break the circuit...

On dropping the golf ball in at the central point, does that point extend from the base upwards to infinity? If not, can you have a funnel to direct the ball to the central point ? Or must the ball touch the point first before anything else to get the 58 points for successful start tasK?
