it is a standard criteria for determining who has the disease or condition. The case definition must have clinical information, characteristics of the people affected (i.e. age, occupation, gender), location, and the time.

Math Time!

# of true positives: 16
# of true negatives: 25
# of false positives: 8
# of false negatives: 24

Calculate the sensitivity, specificity, PPV, and NPP.
(Round to nearest hundredth if applicable)

Sensitivity: 16/(16+24) = 0.40
Specificity: 25/(25+8) = 0.81
PPV: 16/(16+8) = 0.67
Going to assume you mean NPV... 25/(25+24) = 0.51

Attack rate: Risk of getting disease during a specific period of time. Relative risk: Ratio of probability of illness in an exposed group to the probability in an unexposed group. Attributable risk: what percent of the illness can be traced back to the exposure (not 100% sure about this one)

Great, but attritbutable risk is the the attack rate on the exposed minus the attack rate on the unexposed Your turn!

Explain what line listing is, what it is used for and what you put in it.

Line listings tabulate the information received from questionnaires and help organize data and find common patterns. Demographic information such as age, sex, height, weight, and some kind of identifying information such as name or phone number, may be included in a line listing, as well as symptoms and clinical information.
