Per the coaches clinic today, this topic is incredibly broad. I would generally construe it as policy issues relating to water quality and watershed conservation. Issues such as fertilizer runoff, pollution limits/controls, invasive species management, water availability (e.g. dams, rerouting), erosion control, etc. all fall under this umbrella in my opinion.

Are Estuaries considered freshwater????? since they are really both fresh and salt??

Estuaries, in this event, are a separate topic from freshwater regardless of their definition. So while they can be freshwater in some cases, we don't need to know about them for Water Quality.

Oof. The first 5 questions on the test at my most recent invitational were regarding estuaries

Shouldn't this event be under lab since you have to build something as well as take a test?

I'm pretty sure the salinometer counts for 5% of the score.

The manual says that each part of the competition counts for 1/3 of the score, but then it says that salinity testing counts for 5%.
