Creative Species
Short Event Description: Participants must come up with a new species, and explain in writing why that species would be a good idea.

Example: Dung Hippo - Such large animals would consume massive amounts of feces everyday, solving the problem of waste removal in less developed countries. :P

Not a even pun but...
Reverse Towers:

Short Event Description: Participants must try to build a tower that has the lowest weight held to weight of tower ratio.

That would actually be so hard.... :)

You'd also have to make it hold as little weight as possible, but it still has to hold the loading block assembly (otherwise competition violation: +1000 points). Just imagine elite teams like Troy trying to build a really, really bad tower... they'd try and try, but they would keep scoring 4000+. You'd hear them cursing this event, and saying something like, "Ugh... it's so hard to build a tower that scores below 3500!"

Battery Buggy (Battery Buggy) - Participants try to electrocute and fry as many bugs as possible in competition using 8 AA batteries. Bonus points awarded for crispiness.

Lumo Bots - Participants build robots which mimic lumosityfan. Bonus points are awarded for making the bot win 75K in Jeopardy

Can't Judge a Pouter: Participants will be confronted by an angry child and try their best to settle the situation. There will be approximately 15 separate scenarios the participants must resolve. The tiebreaker is time taken. Techniques involving a compromise will be docked off 20% of the final score.
