For Wright Stuff, nearly all planes are constructed form kits. Competitors have to find ways to improve the kit's design to win. Just because someone uses a kit, does not necessarily mean it was easier for them.
Wright Stuff is different though. In Wright Stuff kits are the norm where homemade planes are rare. I was simply stating that I was mad that I let myself get beaten by a kit anyone can buy online.
In Ohio, at least, the most teams are not using the Wright Stuff kit. Certainly the best Wright Stuff teams are building their own. It was a different story with gliders a few years ago. I also have not seen a commercial Roller Coaster kit in any of the invitationals we have been to in Ohio.
There's a picture of it on the wiki. It pretty much has 4 jumps and then uses halfpipes at the bottom to adjust for time. I know's there's also a youtube video of it running if you want to see it run.

What have been the highest scores you guys have been noticing at tournaments? I think the highest score I have noticed was in the 340s.

What do you score? That one looked like it would score at least 280 if it was close on time.

Sorry, 500 points! That would need like 80 cm in gaps. Is that even possible considering the construction constraints?

My roller coaster partner and I probably haven't gotten 300 points at all.

Yeah mine maxes at at like 260 and that's after completely scrapping a couple of designs already
