We were at a less competitive Invitational in Michigan this weekend, first place was 8.1, we took 2nd at 9.4, 3rd was 14. We did not go for the bonus and I don't think anyone did (that I saw anyway). We just ran last years vehicle and slowed it down to get accuracy. Our time was 5 sec and distance 4.4. We are still working on a new vehicle to try to go for the bonus.

Hey windu where do you get your carbon fiber parts from? Is it an online store or a local shop near your home?

As the coach, I can speak for windu here. Honestly, pultruded carbon that we use is super cheap and probably the best material to use in many events. We rarely use actual carbon fiber sheets (sometimes, but it is rare). We like to use material from Dragon Plate but I will accept any materials we can get our hands on. Here is the link to what I am talking about:

Placed 3rd at Wright State. First time EV hasn't failed this season. Feels pretty good

Scored -2.373 on the first run, then rushed the second and hit one of the cans, so that was bad. I think I can score higher since I'm running my EV super slow right now, but I still need to find a more consistent way to get the front axle position so I can put the cans closer together.
Mentor got 1st and 2nd, with much lower scores (still single digit negative though).

Yeah I think Ward Melville might be the only team that has gotten two-digit negative scores at a competition thus far. I was surprised that Mentor did poorly at MIT, but I guess they just had a bad day

Eastside Invitational in Michigan Results
1 8.29
2 11.19
3 26.39
4 27.79
5 35
6 41.8
7 47.39
8 60.79
I assisted at the event. This was a pretty competitive invite, but not so much in EV. A lot of vehicles from last year, some penalized for backing up. One team went for the bonus and made it, but had a competition violation. They would otherwise have placed 5th. The funny thing is that at least half of the teams when asked if they were going for the bonus replied: "What Bonus?".

Ev scores have been fairly unimpressive all year - perhaps due to the difficulty in getting a good accuracy score with the addition of the bonus

As for the vehicles from last year, I can top that. At my invitational, there was a team that showed up with what was basically a scrambler with no launcher and a motor. Not necessarily illegal, just definitely scrapped together

. As for scores, I haven't been to any particularly strong invitationals. I'm thinking in VA the score to medal at regionals is gonna be around 10, possibly a bit higher given in building events there's usually a lot of violations.
