Also, take the practice tests and take notes based on what you don't know. I found that that really helps.

I wonder if there is some sort of miscommunication in the soinc FAQ responding hierarchy, because the fact that someone else received a similarly weird response to a separate question is quite disconcerting. Hopefully this will all be sorted out and soinc will amend these responses. Perhaps Chalker can look into this?inthewoods wrote:I just received a response from sonic.org to my concern listed above and the response was "They must be Pyrex glass." I received the email March 11 4:49pm if that is helpful. FAQ has not yet posted the response they gave me. This is very confusing and needs to be addressed. Thank you!!!!!!
I'll point you to the official public FAQ listings on soinc.org. That's all that really matters.inthewoods wrote:Do you have a status?chalker wrote:

The rules explicitly say that the event supervisor's probe will be used for scoring purposes. Teams simply use their own to help make better predictions.retired1 wrote:I can not answer the question as that is for the national ES to interpret.
I do not like the idea of team temp measurement devices being used. I think that everybody should have the temp measured by the same instrument being in the liquid the same amount of time.
I know that on my cheap data logger that I had to plug in a calibration correction.
This event leaves a lot to be desired in fairness over the entire day. At least in our regional and state events.
While our teams build very good thermos jugs, (very reproduce able data)I would not feel bad if it was one of the events that was replaced.
I believe that ryan201's question referred to using the team's probe for calibration/prediction purposes (as is allowed in the rules), not using it for the official temperature measurement.chalker wrote:The rules explicitly say that the event supervisor's probe will be used for scoring purposes.
