Duct tape my eye......it was more like flypaper adhesive....think syrup or molasses. Their own bot wheels sounded like peeling tape as they drove across the field. Pretty sure i still have the video of their bot limping along because one lego was bonded to the wheel surface.
roll, roll, roll, HOP, ....... roll, roll, roll, HOP........
The most amazing thing, was that the supervisor had to PEEL the lego off his fingers when he set up for the next run, yet it never occurred to him there may be a problem.
Fortunately, ComputerNerd and his super teammate had the skills and patience to overcome any obstacle. Certainly this was due to their intense dedication, rigorous training and a fantastic coach.

i think less than 1:30 will be 1st or 2nd
That sounds about right to me. Perhaps like 3 teams or so will have a good chance of going that fast? Good luck to everybody and once the competition is over will someone post the times for the top six if they are known?

Here is the link to the video of a test run of the robot that came 4th at the Nationals in Augusta, GA. Our time at the competition was 2:42 which is a bit longer than what we got on this test run.
Team: Longfellow Middle School (VA).

anybody know the winning time?
the defending champ broke just before we set it on the board...
we couldnt sort coins anymore, and we almost succeeded using a flipper, but we finished in 2:59:47 with everything but the coins in the correct goals. we got 15th...

I had everything in... or at least I thought.
I had a lego half in and half out. But it was touching the ground, so it was out.
I called stop too soon

Dont feel bad. Its insanely hard to win an event two years in a row. I only know of one kid that has ever done it in a building event. My plane had sort of the same problem last year, and last year the defending champs robot broke on the board. Sometimes you just have bad luck. My team missed a lego but were under 2. I am curious to know the best scores as well.
