Does anyone know what it means when the national list says "Scaphiopus or Spea-Spadefoots" Does that mean both are the same thing?

BTW, I made some ID flash cards for me to study. I don't know if they'll help any of you out, but you can see them here:

they are the same thing, some field guides say spea-spadefoots, while others say scaphiopus.

they seem okay. you might want to list some special features of each family/genus. those might help you identify, because after doing these flash cards once, the pics will be the same, and they wont help you

Thanks for the reply and the advice.

I agree, the flash cards do get old (e.g. you remember the pictures), so I'm planning to add more sets, so each genus/family has 3 or 4 cards. I always learn better from making the flash cards anyways.

yeah thats a good idea. and if you do have a partner for this event, and you only know half of the reptiles/amphibians (it works if your both studying the same amphibians/reptiles too) you can find pictures for each other.
ie. if im studying only amphibians i find reptile pics, and vice versa for my partner

for this event, i would say flash cards, theres a link on the top of this page, and also a good field guide, with lots of diagrams and pics to help you study
