What is it? What did it come from?
Where is a good fossil site for this organism?
Why are there so many of these organism in said fossil site?

The foot of a smilodon
Good fossil site: La Brea Tar Pits
So many because Tar pits offered excellent preservation, often chased prey into tar pits.
EDIT: Animals that came to drink at the pit fell in, and are preserved because of the oil in the pits.

I think the last answer would be because a larger animal (say Mammuthus) would be trapped and die, and many would come to feed on it but die in the tar. But the rest is correct, i believe.

phylum:mollusca 
class: Cephalopoda
order: Ammonitida

you should wait for the original poster to respond with correct or incorrect since you never know, the other guy might be wrong
