If you could give me any ideas on how to do that, I'd very much appreciate it, because everything I've tried has failed thus far.

Do it through fun things. My plan for when I am leading- use teambuilding, make it a family, make people care.
Take them paintballing, show them what a team needs to do to survive.

Thanks; I'm excited about going to nationals
However, there are some people on our team who are quitting or don't want to go. Too bad because they medalled pretty high at states.

yeah, why wouldnt anyone want to go to nationals? nationals is the best part of science olympiad and its so much fun.

Maybe its too expensive. Since he's from Virgiana, they'll probably have to fly there or take a 30 hour bus ride. Last year, my team had to take a 20 hour bus ride to get to Nationals.

I wish you could make it to nationals without your team, I spend a lot of time after school working on my events and tests. Yet nobody else seems to care and just go to get out of school.

That's a nice idea. In theory. But we've never even made it to state and SOME of my team members are pretty apathetic about competing. They like the medals but not the work required to attain them.

There's a few good, hard-working kids, though. (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE, GUYS!)
