Shouldn't be as long as they aren't powering anything. You can also use photoconductive cells that change resistance with light levels such as the ones on Adafruit.

Regardless, they would not count as another "battery source" so you would be good for the bonus.

i know what you mean but the photocells have no energy stored with in it

So even if they’re being powered off of ambient light and they’re powering another thing within your device, they don’t count as a power source? For reference, they’re kind of like mini solar cells.

in rule 5g it says:
Award 1 point per full second past 30 seconds for a non-electrical or non-spring timer if all conditions are met and the Final Action is successfully completed. (2 points if chemical)

What do they mean by "all conditions are met"

They may be a power source, but that is irrelevant. Let the rules be your guide...

They may be a power source, but that is irrelevant. Let the rules be your guide...
Are you referring to an actual solar cell or the photocells referenced in the rules for one of the tasks? Photocells are just sensors that vary their resistance based on the ambient light around them, but solar cells actually supply power.
