I liked the first few, but the newest one... they've become complete Mary Sues. Every time something bad happens, they just miraculously develop a new power. Plus, I hate it when authors leave a totally pointless cliffhanger just so they can sell a sequel, which is what he did with this one.
Totally. I love the first 3, but as they go on now, they just get dumb.

It's kind of sad, considering how great the first few were.

The first one is
The Angel Experiment.
Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports is the third, I think that's the one you're thinking of. The second is
School's Out - Forever and the fourth and fifth are sucky.

yeah i didn't really like the 4th and 5th maximum ride books either. right now i'm reading
life, the universe, and everything by douglas adams. i love the hitchhiker books so far. they're so random but hilarious at the same time. i think it's going to be my favorite 5 book trilogy.

Douglas Adams was a genius. His books are the best you will ever read (at least in their genre- which I guess would be sci-fi comedy- but in my opinion, overall). When you're done with the Hitchhiker books, I recommend
Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, which is also excellent.

Its a unique kind of humor, but it's hilarious.
My favorite is the part with the whale and the bowl of petunias.
