It's not that fancy- I mean, I suppose they could have called it Acoustics instead of Sounds of Music, but I think the current name has something to do with the fact that you have to build musical instruments and play them, not just learn about the science of sound and take a test.

C division still has a few entertaining names (Microbe Mission, Mission Possible, Sounds of Music, Sumo Bots) and has many more from its past (It's About Time, Designer Genes, From a Distance, Scrambler, Storm the Castle, Feathered Frenzy, Robot Ramble). One interesting note is that some names that were once C Div names have stuck in B Div but changed over time to be more boring names in C Div (Amphibians & Reptiles to Herpetology, Reach for the Stars to Astronomy, Can't Judge A Powder By Its Color to Forensics [not a perfect match]).

I think sounds of music will be pretty fun. Most likely I will have to ask my band teacher or the orchestra teacher to help my team with that event, though. I don't know if I'll be able to make an instrument from scratch... if that is what we need to do in it.

Where can I find the rules for Storm The Castle?

Rules for the upcoming year won't be out until September, and Soinc is pretty secure when it comes to copyrights, so most likely you won't find any rules. If you do, you shouldn't trust them- they may be really old. I would check the [wiki][/wiki], though... specifically the Storm the Castle Wiki

Not sure if this is the right place to put this, but it does have to do with events: soinc.org has put up National results for every single year. It's pretty cool, and I found out that my high school made it to Nats two or three times in the 1980s. :D

Sounds like spreadsheet time.

Haha, way ahead of you. I actually emailed SOinc and asked them to put up the rest of the results so I could finish my spreadsheet. I am in the midst of transfering it to the wiki. Aren't you glad I did all the work for you?
