Now I want to end every sentence I say regarding invasive species with "Not cool!"...

Today marks the beginning of Aquatic Invasive Species Awareness Week in Michigan. Went canoeing today and got some pictures:

Also took the opportunity to get more pictures of the classic terrestrial invasives:

Does anyone know if the list of species will change that much for next year?

I'm guessing it won't change a ton (seeing how little lists for other events usually change), but there's more than enough invasive species to make a whole new list.

That being said, I really hope they specify species of Asian carps...and get rid of H5N5...please tell me I'm not the only one who can't stand H5N5...

To be fair, Michigan specified the species of carp

I could never find any information for H5N5, only H5N1.

So my sister dug up an old flower press she had from back in the day so I can start pressing some of the invasives I find. She had some plants in the box that she had pressed back when she used it, and I took a quick look in there and found these two.

It just occurred to me, but one change I really want to see on the list for next year: if Japanese Spiraea stays, change the spelling to Japanese Spirea.

Of course, this is still secondary to any changes with H5N5.
