For the Northern Cali State's it wasn't too hard, in my opinion, but it was annoying because we had to use cups and place them on a whiteboard that had the periodic table on it, then put twisted pipe-cleaners into the cups. The cups had to cover certain elements, and i kept knocking mine in the wrong place so that took up time to get them back! :x Gah... that was very annoying...

My failure of the competition: I had to fill in 1st hour for JYC because one of the guys didn't have his wristband yet. Fortunately I helped build it, but then I had to rush to WIDI 2nd hour to write. I went in the building, asked an "emergency question lady" where the WIDI room was, she spent 2 minutes calling someone so eventually I just had to leave. I found a team and asked them, they had a big board with all events and times, told me it was room 150. I go to room 150 and sit down, they give me paper and I start to notice the people next to me are...kind of young. Yep, it was the division B room, and bolted to room 250 where C was, missed 5 minutes of writing time and pulled off 17th place. We were pretty happy considering we got 10th at state and haven't worked since!

The model was all k'nex. It was definitely the hardest k'nex model I've had to write so far.

B was Googolplex (sp?), again. Apparently it was really easy; my team's Doer finished in 5 min and 50 sec, wasn't even the first one out of there, and they got 9th. When they told me it took the Doer 5:50, I was like O.O... my Doer last year finished in 10:21 or something like that, and she was one of the first few people out of the room.

but isn't it kind of unfair ?
because they only sell that in certain states ....
+ its an advantage over the other states o-o
but idk because other teams finished sooooo fast ...

Yeah, only a few teams have access to them... I believe they use them because ideally, you'd use a material that NONE of the teams had seen before, and this is the closest they can get.
Technically speaking, though, they're not sold in ANY state. Certain schools have them still, but they've been out of production for years. The company stopped making them. There aren't any on eBay, Amazon.com, etc. Trust me, we've looked for them.

When you mentioned googoplex about a month ago I looked them up on Ebay and there was actually one full set being sold. I didn't buy them though but I probably should have...

Really? I've never been able to find them on eBay. We found some sales that had been discontinued but were archived or something, but no current ones. We've looked periodically, but I guess we just weren't looking at the right time.

Haha! I was hoping someone would remember me! Were you the one on my right or left? In any case, thanks for the conversation!
