true, true...
it's really not the event's fault...
basically wat i'm saying is tat the event is so varible and unpredictable... the catigories of wat u hafta study are so general...it's sorta like Science Word (which I hated with a passion... :x )
2010 Events: Shock Value: 1st in Region, 2nd in State Experimental Design: 2nd in State Pentatholon: 3rd in State Solar System: 2nd in Region

Pentathalon, while I have never done it, sounds like a terrible event.
But, its just one of those events added to level the playing field. Its the event that great teams can do terribly on, and that mediocre teams can happen to excel at, depending on what kind of challenges.
I also heard that at Nats, individuals didnt get to choose their academic portion, so someone got stuck with constellations while our astronomy kid had to do a different task. That's just not well thought out.
2009 events:
Fossils: 1st @ reg. 3rd @ states (stupid dinosaurs...) 5th @ nats.
Dynamic: 1st @ reg. 19thish @ states, 18th @ nats
Herpetology (NOT the study of herpes): NA
Enviro Chem: 39th @ states =(
Cell Bio: 9th @ reg. 18th @ nats
Remote: 6th @ states 3rd @ Nats
Ecology: 5th @ Nats

yeah...

it was kinda funny.... I'm not in the event, but I do Stars...

I got a call from my teammate while I was bringing stuff to the bus

Teammate: "Bring your Stars sheet!"

Me: "Why?"

Teammate: "It's one of the Pentathlon questions! We saw the ppl ahead of us doing it. We're going to try and learn them really fast! Hurry up!"

So I sprinted the Stars stuff to Pentatholn, which, of coarse, was on the opposite side of the campus...

I wouldnt rejoice if I was you. If its naked egg drop, it could end up being even worse.
For naked egg drop, you have to build a device and drop your egg in it. But if miss your device, then youre ranked behind those who hit their target. And it was very difficult to even hit your target.
