Me too. 11's pretty easy-- that was our time after we added weights because our car was a little jumpy. Didn't help much, we still got like 14 cm off...
winneratlife how do you make your car more accurate?

Calibrate, calibrate, calibrate. The day of, on that floor, if possible. Be careful that your wheels don't loosen :/ That really cost me a gold.

Calculate needed offset and exact number of winds needed. Basically, if you can get front-back relationship to work, just offset left or right.

Also, I've found it helps to have your pointer be flexible (mine was a paperclip wrapped around a screw; if I wanted to move it, say, from the front of the vehicle to the back, then I'd just unscrew it and force it into a different point on the balsa chassis). I always moved it the day of.

I'm building a new and improved version of my vehicle, and I have a couple of questions.
1. How do you attach your mousetraps? I've tried various methods, but duct tape doesn't hold them very well, glue is excessively permanent, and clamps seem too heavy.
2. Does it make a difference whether the front or rear axle is the drive axle?

1, for attaching your mousetraps, what do you have against glue? isnt permanent the point?

2, depends completely on your design but generally people have them in the back

If you are looking to be able to adjust placement then duct tape works perfectly fine. Trust me, if you put your mousetraps on your vehicle and then wrap it with a couple layers of duct tape, it will stick. Then when you are ready to put your traps on permanently (actually I don't see why the duct tape isn't enough to hold it but anyways...) just glue them on. Our team uses glue/epoxy to attach our traps.

use a glue like duco or ambroid. you can dissolve the joint with actone and take your mousetraps off

i always thought that a reardrive car would do better for this event. only because when it stops on the -4 meter line it will be closer to the pointer and skid less <- at least thats what i experienced

You can put the pointer wherever you like; on the back if you want.

Also, personally, I just screwed my mousetraps into the wood.

I use balsa for my base, so I can't screw them into the wood. I duct tape them, test for ideal location, then just super glue them down. Like Fogg said, you can peel them off with a razor if necessary.
