Building a nonbonus tower that scored that well sounds impossible
Its def possible...
It sounds inaccurate to me too, but I wouldn't call it impossible.

Related: if one were to use essentially the top 0.5% or so of balsa re: strength-to-weight to build a tower, how high could it theoretically score?

Did it with last years rules. And besides, it's Troy.

I assume there is more bracing but very light wood. So the bracing must be short and the buckling strength will be greater? Correct?

Uhmm if they did it to last years rules they scored a zero, not over 3000.

a non bonus tower from last year should score significantly higher than a non bonus tower this year.

I wouldn’t say significantly. I’d say so far this year it’s about equal. We’ve already heard of teams getting 2600+ nonbonus which was near the same as last year.

Hi,
I would like to use 3/32 bass for legs. Does anyone if the effective length factor for bass is the same as that of balsa wood 2.3?
Thanks

The effective length factor should be the same if you are using the same bracing pattern.
