I don't see a reason why you would have to add mass to a part of the device other than the blade. There's always a way around it.

Example: You have three blades. You want to add mass directly between blade 1 and blade 2. Instead, you add half of the mass to the base of blade 1 and blade 2.

You can add materials on the CD and hope that the ES allows it. I have done it. Just prepare to remove it and lose efficiency if it's not allowed.

Fair enough. so is modification only considered to be, basically sanding/cutting the CD in order to prevent cuts/sharp edges?

Not really- the only "modifications" you can do are putting tape and glue, sanding ONLY the area where the blades are attached LIGHTLY as far as I know. I believe the general rule is that it must aid in the attachment of the blades.

How did the Nationals wind power blade scores end up working out?
I am curious how this might effect the earlier discussion on whether the voltage score should be squared or not next year.

chalker,

Do you know what are the National Tournament Wind Power event top 10 team blade scores for high speed and low speed? Thanks.

Sneak peek for you all based upon the rules committee discussions: voltage score won't be squared next year.

I don't have the complete Div B raw data yet, but was told the max voltages were about 1mV. For Div C it was about 650mV at high and 450mv at low. Keep in mind that voltages are entirely dependent on the particular motor / fan setup. The 10th place team had about 10% less on high and 5% less on low, which resulted in a 10% lower Part 1 raw score.

How close were the total scores overall, in div C? (from the top teams especially)
