But counting it to your score is absurd.
I agree with you on that. The reason I would not want to do it is because it's a bad event for SO, not because I dislike exercise or anything like that.

Yeah, I mean it is fun to dress up and stuff, but having it impact who makes nats is just ridiculous. I really hope egg drop takes its place next year.

Oh yeah, on my team they wear eye black and under armour. We took pictures from regionals and they were hilarious.

That makes the event sound really intense!
At least it's a way to make the event not sound too bad.

According to someone who has seen the actual list of rules for next year, Penthathlon is coming back. The rules for Egg drop are not even being discussed.
I urge everyone to find out who their State Director is and let them know your feelings on the event so they can accurately represent your State to those who decide at the National level.
You can find a link to send mail to your State director here-

Complaining without action is useless.
Unless you act, this event that has little to do with science will haunt everyone next year.
Thanks

At the PA states, the conditions were horrid!!!! Another reason Pentathlon is bad??? You can't always count on Nature to agree with the event when its outdoors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They were pretty terrible. At the time I was getting lunch, it was absolutely pouring...Luckily, by my time slot, it was a bit dryer.

Lol that's only because I forgot the short shorts and sweatbands.

It wasn't that bad, it was only drizzling. I found it funny that by the last period it was sunny.
