I could've gotten 1300 if I just made the side of my base thicker...
It held 10.9kg, unfortunately

The national team received 3rd place so unless they made a huge improvement, Virginia won't be very competitive (I think).

Yup, as george notes, there is some quite detailed description just waiting to be read/understood/played around with - both on the rolled tube approach, and the machined with a router approach that we're using. Nice and helpful to heve the additional photos- thanks.GeorgeInNePa wrote:http://scioly.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php? ... be#p219563UQOnyx wrote:Wow, very niceHow are these made btw? I would recommend reading ALL of this thread and the Boomilever B/C thread.
We got almost all of our design from these threads by reading all of it, then thinking/imagining...
PS,
We decided to simply overlap the seam in the tube, instead of trying cutting and then gluing the edges. We scrapped 4 or 5 tubes trying it the way they describe in the PDF.
Thanks, Im just trying to get a bearing on the competition at nationals.dholdgreve wrote:Although I could not attend the Ohio State meet, As I understand it, the Division B scores were very similar to Michigan's, with 2nd place being in the low 1400's... They only went to 6 places in awards. I would guess that it took 1200+ to pick up a ribbon or medal. Guessing that First Place (Solon) was around 1500.
