Re: Scioly Assassination 88: A Social Experiment
The main reason I think that newer players should restrict form being officers, for at least this next game, is not because I don't want them to be involved at all, but becuase they've been making bad(sometimes absolutley horrible) protections based off of non sequitur thinking. And most of the time they make these protections soon after the clue was released. If the clue was about to expire then it would be ok, but no need to throw away your protection right away.

Don't restrict them! That is an idea I find insulting! If you want experience, get hard entry clues and improve the replacement system! That's what I would do if I were the Sassy. Stop critisizing us, and try and figure out non-restrictive ways of fixing this. I have.harryk wrote:The main reason I think that newer players should restrict form being officers, for at least this next game, is not because I don't want them to be involved at all, but becuase they've been making bad(sometimes absolutley horrible) protections based off of non sequitur thinking. And I emphasize insulting.
Okay, I admit it, I know we have all made bad protections. THERE ARE OTHER WAYS TO FIX THIS PROBPEM THAN SETTING RESTRICTIONS!
I WILL NOT STAND FOR THIS!

Littleboy's quotes fit perfectly, and Chia understands what I'm trying to say. I'm not throwing out mindless criticism with the intent to hurt you, I'm saying that new users shouldn't jump right into being officers if there are more experienced ones available. Experience should be gained from just helping out at first, rather than storming into the positions of importance right away

Problem is that hard entry clues are, well, hard. Experienced officers no longer bother to solve them, while inexperienced officers (like you - no insult intended; it's true) are more than enthusiastic.Cedavis6 wrote:If you want experience, get hard entry clues and improve the replacement system!
I have confidence that the next sassy will be more than competent, and they deserve a better, more hardworking set of officers than what I had.
EDIT: I agree with everything Shad is saying; I don't think he's trying to be critical/mean/insulting one bit. Nothing he's saying is inaccurate.
EDIT2: Actually, I think hard entry clues would be a good idea, but I object to the assertion that they will somehow make officers experienced. To gain experience, officers have to stay on the sidelines a bit. Basically, I agree with Shad.

Restrictions aren't gonna help. Just make the entry clue hard, but not something more expirenced users can't do.Kokonilly wrote:Problem is that hard entry clues are, well, hard. Being an officer is a choice. Don't take that away, or I will be hurt.

No one is trying to hurt your feelings. Please don't take what we say personally. We are simply trying to improve the game to make it more enjoyable for all involved and to prevent another sassy burnout.Cedavis6 wrote:Don't take that away, or I will be hurt.

How about we ask for the sassy to make easier clues? Once the officers get a hang of it, the sassy should then make the clues harder. But making them easier may seem more inviting to new players, so that they don't give up so fast.

Hey now. What if I want to be officer? I am still allowed, right?Littleboy wrote: New rule 2: All officers must be older than foreverphysics.
New officers before have never been this sucky. That's why we're suggesting this at all. Not to toot my own horn, but I became officer my third game in. I also managed to actually solve most of the clues before I got killed. I was a noob then too. But I managed to actually solve these things.
I've also worked with Littleboy for quite a bit, and believe me, he knows what he's doing. He's an experienced older player, a good sassy, and an excellent officer. You guys should listen to him more carefully and consider what he's saying. He knows what he's doing.
I completely agree with the reforms and not allowing new users to play--at least, next game.
And Cedavis6, please do not take offense at what I am about to say: You are a very new user, and most of the people you are arguing with have been around much longer than you and have a much better idea of what they're talking about. Maybe you should listen to them a bit more.

I know I'm considered a new user, but I just read all of those posts, and Ced, they're just suggesting this for the next game. It's not like it's going to be forever.foreverphysics wrote: I completely agree with the reforms and not allowing new users to play--at least, next game.

I believe that we should probably use the restrictions...they actually make sense.
Besides, it's only going to be for the next game.

Re: Scioly Assassination 88: A Social Experiment
I don't think we should have any restrictions on who can play a sassy game, ever.
One of the cool things about this game is that it helps new users get familiar with the community behind scioly.org. Like YDRC, it shows the personality behind the users who answer their questions on the event forums whatnot. It's fun for someone new to work with others solving a clue, and again, fun is what it should be about. Restricting who can play to a handful of users who have already played many many times isn't the solution to the problem, especially in a time where we start getting new users in the new school year. Instead of making it harder to play, how about we make it easier? Easier clues, maybe more hints, and more ID clues.
The posting game forums are for having fun, not for winning. and Maybe we should reconsider what this game is about before we decide to make it an elite club only special, experienced people can enter. 'Cuz that's not what it's about.
