Will/Did you make it to nationals?

I had my state tournament today (AZ) and I made nationals being the only frosh on my team.
It wasn't that competitive though, because AZ isn't... that good?

When it comes to Write It Do It, there are just too many variables. In some cases, the test is too easy, and the good teams lose because everyone has a perfect score (I may or may not be speaking from experience). In other cases, the test is too hard, and the team that does the best guesswork is the team that wins. WIDI is too variable to be considered "hard" all the time.

Last year at NY States there were 12 teams with a perfect score, so it came down to time. A couple of years before that, the model was handmade from wooden blocks and dowels, all painted matte black. Some of the joints had been glued, others had not, but you couldn't tell which from looking at the model. As a result, nobody could tell where one piece ended and the next began. So, yeah, it can be pretty variable.

AZ usually places between 20th - 40th at nats, so about middle of the road.

An explanation would be greatly appreciated.

No, I just referred to it as a test. There is no actual written test besides the whole, you know, writing part.

Well, that was a bit confusing. Thanks for the clarification. I was thinking that my state was seriously messed up if they would leave out something that important.

It was pretty fun but kind of tense since we were a new team.

I'm not saying that AL's not competitive, I'm just saying that the level of competition in other states can be insane.

youre right. alabama isnt competitive. my team wins every single year. (we've won state the last 14 years). this isnt anything to complain about since we get to go to nationals every year! . but there is no way my team would win if we competed in states like ohio, NY, or CA
and my team always finishes top 20 at nats so i guess you could say were pretty good
